Who we are

PictionaryWords is an independent website operated by the project maintainer described on our About Us page. This policy describes how this static website and its client-side scripts behave in your browser. We do not offer user logins on this site; there is no “account database” on our side for visitors.

What this site actually runs

  • Pages & assets are delivered as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images (hosted on Cloudflare Pages / Cloudflare’s network). Cloudflare will process technical data needed to serve the site (for example IP address, TLS metadata, and request logs) under Cloudflare’s role as infrastructure provider.
  • The word generator runs entirely in your browser. Word lists are loaded from JSON files bundled with the site; we do not send your generated words to our own servers because we do not operate an application server for that feature.
  • We do not use Google Analytics or similar first-party analytics scripts on this site at this time. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and the cookie banner.

Contact form (how messages reach us)

The Contact page uses a standard HTML form submitted to FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), a third-party form processor. When you submit the form, FormSubmit transmits your message (name, email, and message body, plus the topic you select) to our designated inbox. We read and respond from that mailbox; we do not operate a separate “tickets” database on this domain.

First-time note: FormSubmit may require a one-time activation for the destination email address. That is a provider-side anti-abuse step, not something this site stores.

Retention: We keep contact emails only as long as needed to respond and handle follow-ups, unless a longer period is required by law.

Local storage (saved only on your device)

The following keys may be written in your browser’s localStorage to remember in-game preferences. None of this is transmitted to PictionaryWords as a structured “profile”—it stays on your device unless your browser syncs storage across devices (a browser feature outside our control):

  • pwg_prefs — generator preferences (e.g. difficulty/category defaults).
  • pwg_timer_duration — last selected timer length.
  • pwg_scores — team scoreboard values for the session.
  • pwg_cookie_consent — whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies in our banner.

You can clear site data for pictionarywordgenerators.com in your browser settings at any time.

Cookies & the consent banner (EEA/UK & similar)

On your first visit (or if you cleared storage), we show a cookie / advertising consent banner. Reject means we do not load the Google AdSense script for that browser profile; advertising slots stay empty. Accept means we may load AdSense, which can set or read third-party cookies used for advertising and measurement as described by Google.

Your choice is stored in pwg_cookie_consent in localStorage so we do not show the banner on every page view. Changing your mind later is described under “Your choices” below.

Legal bases (GDPR): For visitors in the EEA/UK, we rely on consent for non-essential advertising cookies and on legitimate interests for basic site delivery, security, and responding to messages you send us.

Advertising — Google AdSense

If you accept, we load Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-8351396994491171). Google may process data such as IP address, device identifiers, and interaction data to show and measure ads. That processing is governed by Google’s policies. You can read how Google uses data in Google’s “Privacy & Terms” and use Google Ad Settings for personalization controls.

Fonts & other third-party requests

We load Google Fonts (Inter, Poppins) from Google’s servers. Google may process technical data (such as IP address) when your browser requests those font files. You can read Google’s privacy documentation for how they handle such requests.

Children

The site is intended for general audiences. The “18+” themed word list is labeled accordingly. If you believe we should remove or reword content, contact us through the contact form.

International transfers

Because we use U.S.-based infrastructure and Google services, data may be processed in the United States and other countries where those providers operate. Google and Cloudflare provide contractual safeguards (such as SCCs) for international transfers as described in their respective policies.

Your rights (including EEA/UK)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we keep minimal data, many requests will simply confirm what is described above. To exercise rights or ask questions, email [email protected] or use our contact form and choose the privacy-related topic.

Your choices (clear consent or contact data)

  • Advertising: clear site data for this domain, or delete the pwg_cookie_consent key, then reload—the banner will appear again.
  • Google ads: use Google Ad Settings.
  • Contact emails: reply to any message we send, or write from the same address you used so we can verify your request.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices or providers change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and for material changes we may also post a short notice on the home page.
